Flooring Timber
Local timber for flooring

Homegrown hardwood makes beautiful, warm, longlasting flooring and has done for hundreds of years.
Our Oak, Chestnut and Elm are particularly suitable timbers for bespoke flooring due to their character, their durability and their toughness. Superb for restoration and renovation projects or for a more individual or creative project where ready-made floors don't suffice.
The T&T boards we keep in stock can be machined as square edge boards, they can be rebated or can have T&G sides. They would typically come from 27mm stock and would finish at around 19mm after being planed on both faces, although it is possible to use thicker boards if need be ie. to strengthen a floor where the joists are widely spaced.
The widths and lengths available will depend on the details of each individual project but, in general, bespoke works make it possible to use the maximum width of each board and at the same time achieve a uniquely crafted floor - ask us for more information.
It is worth noting that homegrown timber will not be dried to the same degree as pre-machined flooring and needs extra consideration when installing. For further information see the product sheets for each individual species or call us for advice.
